Theme Name: “Shuffling Out of Schizophrenia”
Each piece in this gallery is more than just art—it’s a narrative, a journey, a slice of the artist’s soul. The following painting series titled “Shuffling Out of Schizophrenia” offers a profound exploration into the depths of human experience, portraying the complex journey of navigating through the challenges of schizophrenia. It consists of two groups of paintings: the first depicts the personal experience of living with schizophrenia, and how it affects the perception, expression, and coping of reality. They show the confusion, distortion, noise, chaos, pain, stress, and trauma that are faced every day, as well as the loneliness, isolation, and barriers that are felt from others. They also show the ways that escape, healing, or peace are found, such as through places, activities, or people that help to relax. They also show the hope and optimism that are present, and the light, warmth, and beauty that are seen in oneself, in others, and in the world.
The second group of paintings represents the personal journey of healing, and how it influences the growth, change, and relation to others, oneself, and the world. They show the story, the challenges, the milestones, and the goals that have been achieved or are hoped to be achieved, as well as the hidden, overlooked, or misunderstood aspects of the inner self, the feelings, or the perspective. They also show how colors, symbols, metaphors, shapes, patterns, textures, symmetry, alignment, proportion, fantasy, imagination, abstraction, distortion, fragmentation, and symbolism are used to feel, create, and interpret one’s own reality. They also show the hidden figures or things that motivate, help, or influence, and how they are acknowledged, celebrated, or paid tribute to. They also show how the difficulties in life are overcome and resisted, and how harmony and stability are found. Click here to see the detailed description of each painting.
